How is Wisdom Defined

From This To This (This is an update of an old blog post I did under another of my past names and blog) Definition of Wisdom Simply put, wisdom is whatever works best for you and develops over time as you find what works better and what doesn't perform optimally. Google and Gemini Make One Wiser My more recent growth in wisdom has come from the judicious use of Google (and now AI) and sorting out what works for me and what I really don't think is much help. So if I don't know what I need to know, I just "Google" it (or use Gemini) to find a better solution to my problem.  Take this Facebook post as an example of someone who will eventually get wisdom. … I broke my phone last week and lost a lot of my contacts, could everyone please send me a text with your name so I can add you back?   You would think that after losing this information several times, one would create a backup in case of a mishap. I know I did this a lot in my working days for contacts since you ma...

Air Fryer Cooking for 1 or 2 People

Introduction Most recipes you find on the Internet are for family-sized meals and are not easily downsized, such as changing the cooking time. Obviously, less food takes less time. The focus here will be on a system that should work better for a single amateur chef or a couple. The answer is right there at your fingertips: it's AI. I personally use Gemini because I use Google for a lot of things since it works for me. The Equipment Ninja Crispi Air Fryer , 4-in-1 but almost exclusively with the larger glass bowl Silicone Liners : These are more rigid than others I have tried, and they protect the glass bowls so well that you seldom have to clean the bowl, just the liner, which is easy-peasy. Digital Instant Thermomete r for checking on internal temperature of meat, poultry, fish, etc. Various utensils such as prongs, silicone gloves or pot holders, silicone trays for cooking eggs, a silicone brush, spatulas, and the like; a really good sharp knife; a titanium cutting board; and a l...

What Makes Wortley Village So Special

Image
I have only been visiting this wonderful community for two weeks after living in London for something like 13 years, and I do remember driving around it a little when I was first looking for apartments in London. I just passed it off as a little too difficult with one-way streets here and there and lots of stop signs. Was that ever a mistake, other than I locked into a very good rate in another section of town just 2 miles from Wortley Village? This is just a segment from AI on the village. Wortley Village is the cultural and commercial heart of the historic "Old South" neighbourhood in London, Ontario. Located just south of downtown, it functions as a vibrant, highly walkable urban village known for its tree-lined streets, well-preserved Victorian architecture, and tight-knit community feel. Walking into the neighbourhood from Wharncliffe south of the village, you are just beginning to see all the beautiful Victorian homes, all kinds of trees, lots of stop signs, cars dri...

Grocery Shopping in London, Ontario Comparison

Image
Recently, I met a really nice person (I will call her Baranski since I generally do not use people's real names in blog posts. out of respect for their privacy) who happened to be in my local Giant Tiger doing some grocery shopping for their bar/restaurant business, looking for value to improve their service and try to keep their menu prices under control in this ever-changing, wildly out of control food market. I found it strange that she was shopping for iceberg lettuce and celery here, but she has obviously done her research on pricing and has driven more than a local walking distance to get the "deal" that works for her. Produce is subject to seasonal variance in quality and price here at Giant Tiger. Generally, they sell what I call utility grade or sometimes standard grade. Still, never first grade since the head of lettuce is generally about the size of a softball (especially the usable part after you remove the wilted outer leaves). Now, if you check out, say, Far...

I Never Forget the Dog's Name

Image
That is what one dog walker out of the thousands in this city, which is known as the Forest City, London, Ontario, said to me after meeting her lovely lab mix. Eskimo and Erica were the names I gave them here in the story. It is indeed harder to learn the owner's name, but generally for me, anyway, the dog is happy to see someone that interests them, and they will let you know very quickly if they don't like or feel that either the dog or owner is threatened in any way. For me, a dog isn't really a dog unless its head comes up to about my knee. Lots of people like little dogs, but to me they just seem to be loud and annoying and will run and hide if you try to show them off, which I never do. A dog's size is up to the owner, but please do not dress them in clothes more suitable for a small child, unless it is the cold of winter. I don't have a dog mostly because it is unfair to the lovely creature to be cooped up in an apartment when they need to run free, so dog ...

Customer Support Chat Phone or AI

Image
Just talk to each other. Like it or not, AI is probably going to be your best bet. Chat and phone are only as good as the training they get from the company they work for, and they only cover a portion of the situations. Since all AI is doing is scanning all the available public knowledge out there at super high speed and creating an answer that appears to be done by a human but, of course, is not. Recently, I was trying to resolve an issue with my service provider for all 3 services, to simply get my brand new printer using the feature of wi-fi connection instead of USB connectors. One of the major roadblocks to starting with any new printer is that the cables get shorter and shorter to save money. So the solution is largely in the hands of someone like Amazon, which offers the right-length cord for your needs at an additional cost, of course. So, the call to customer support largely went unanswered and resulted in several 5-minute on-hold sessions. At the same time, she probabl...

Walking is Good for Everything

Image
So today I go on my first serious walk, the first of many for the rest of my life. About 2 miles and one and a half hours with lots of stops along the way: 5 individuals, 1 dog and a group of young guys that caught my attention because they were lean and trim and looked like they were really active, like I was back in the day. So in my new walking shoes with extra wide toes (see Amazon for most everything I buy now) and my new Dr Scholl's insoles designed for folks like me who have flat feet and sold in a size 8-14 trim to fit system that put you into a keep moving stance slightly pitched forward, I first run into Landon who is walking with a cane and in heavy sandals but he's out walking on what doctors tell him he must do everyday for an hour and a half. He just had a heart operation where he lost 40 lbs. while in the hospital, mostly because he hated the food--no salt, no mustard, just bland, bland and more bland. I'm firmly convinced that all doctors are on a vindictive...
